There’s a type of “I’m not anti semitic just anti Zionist” person esp online that’s like “no no when I say that anybody whose

Ever had hummus in Tel Aviv or

Goes to Hebrew school at a place that once donated

To an Israel non profit IS FAIR GAME AND COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE!” And I don’t like those people and despite ALSO being against the Israeli regime and against the settlements and believe it’s a genocide—-I don’t fee

Comfortable around the types that say that and they seem to be in charge of a lot of the left wing orgs in this country.

In my experience you’ve gotta take that shit on a case-by-case basis. For me, the dividing line is whether they are implicating Jews who have nothing to do with the Israeli government (or IDF). If they are, it’s anti-Semitism. If they’re not, it’s just politics.

Yes for sure although there’s the fact that everybody but the hasids have to be in the IDF which then some say means all Israelis over 18 Are combatants and complicit in genocide. So like in brooklyn last year someone spray painted this Israeli restaurant that’s been here for 20 years. The owner probably was in IDF twenty years ago but that doesn’t mean he’s responsible for what the IDF is doing now does it? Or the defense of the guy who rammed his truck in Michigan; the temple supported Israel so it was an Acceptable target! I feel like protesting active duty IDF is fair game. But protesting people in other countries who don’t directly have much to do with Gaza and the West Bank seems overboard.

But then Amanda gelenders article says “yes all Jews” because all Jewish Institutions have connections to Zionism so anybody with connections to any Jewish institutions are morally bankrupt according to her

i spent the early days of russia’s war of aggression against ukraine reporting and contradicting the russian propaganda machine on twitter. what i discovered (and i’m a pretty far left democratic socialist who opposes israel’s genocide) is that the very far left and the “alt-right” are the same. not in their specific nonsense (the tankies on the very far left defend stalin and support russia vocally while the far right does all that secretly) but in their rhetoric and bigotry.

aligning yourself with a brown charlie kirk clone with a slightly different focus for his hate masked as “edginess” is not a sign of a serious candidate. this dude is what “blue maga” was coined to describe.
