Explaining Extremely Obvious Things to People Who Refuse to Listen
May Wrapup
Welcome to life in 2026, where the lion’s share of what passes for political discourse consists of Explaining Extremely Obvious Things to People Who Refuse to Listen:
- The DNC autopsy was largely compiled by the same people responsible for Democratic strategy in 2024. Any flaws in their overall worldview that hampered their perspective during the election would also have been very likely to hamper their perspective immediately afterward.
- “If every third-party voter voted for Kamala Harris, she still wouldn’t have won” is a misleading statistic. That is because most of the leftists who opposed Harris simply refused to cast a vote for President. So they would not be included in that metric.
- There were plenty of ridiculous excuses that Trump supporters gave us for their continued support of Trump, but “Obama’s tan suit” was never one of them. At most, it was a one-day story that generated predictable outrage on Fox News but gained no real traction anywhere else.
- There remains only one accurate bellwether of Trump’s vulnerability within the GOP, and that is the willingness of elected Republican officials to criticize or oppose him. Anything less, and it’s just business as usual.

- A reminder: “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” was canceled because of Colbert’s reaction to CBS’ $16 million settlement of the Trump lawsuit, which he described as a “big, fat bribe.”
- While CBS later claimed that “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” was losing $40 million per year, details of the exact financial losses have not been shared with the public. For the record, it was #1 in the ratings for network late-night TV.
- It is also highly unusual for a sitting U.S. President to gloat about the cancellation of a TV show, as Trump repeatedly has done. That also undermines the contention that CBS’ decision was purely financial and unrelated to politics.

- There is an infinite supply of trolls, shitposters, and dyed-in-the-wool MAGAts on social media. Blocking dozens of them on a single thread will resolve nothing beyond the immediate problem. Similary, choosing to indulge them for entertainment purposes will do nothing noticeable to actually make the problem worse.
- A politician with a white-supremacist agenda is far more dangerous than a politician with a white-supremacist tattoo. There is no Universe where “tattoos count, but agendas don’t.”
- As infuriating as John Fetterman has been over the last year & a half, there really is no correlation between “having a stroke” and “embracing MAGA ideology.” A likelier explanation is Fetterman was persuaded, or possibly coerced, to cooperate with Trump after the latter’s re-election.
- If federal judges refuse to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the 2020 Presidential election, it means that they fear reprisal from Trump if they say the wrong thing. This quality alone demonstrates they are incapable of performing their jobs fairly, and are thus unfit to be judges.

- It is not possible to work WITH Trump and not be corrupted by him. Oligarchs such as Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Mark Cuban probably believe that they can exploit an alliance with Trump to their advantage.
- But their goals are only important to the extent that they line up with his. If there is ever to be a conflict, his goals will take precedence, 100% of the time.
- They cannot work WITH Trump; only FOR Trump. There is only one Trump, and Trump equals Trump equals Trump. Trump’s only priority IS Trump. There is no value in “working with” Trump unless your goal is More Trump.
- (I will cite the relative autonomy of Elon Musk and RFK Jr. before they got sucked into Trump’s orbit.)

- The Trump Administration is becoming increasingly explicit in their equation of Trump’s ballroom and “White House security.” Since a ballroom is not traditionally created as a security precaution, this suggests even further likelihood that the true purpose of the ballroom construction is to fortify the bunker underneath the East Wing.
- One can only speculate as to the reasons why Trump would be focused so heavily on the Presidential bunker beneath the East Wing. Perhaps this should be considered in light of his behavior after his first term where he refused to concede under any circumstances.
- To most Republican voters, there is no flaw in Donald Trump’s character or his policies that will outweigh their revulsion to the Democratic alternatives. No matter how much they concede is true, they will continue to support him because deep down, they believe that the alternative would be worse.

I prefer both.
Toy with them, if it makes me feel good, then bock them.
Either way, it improves my online quality of life.
The only useful purpose for MAGAts is to be targets of mockery and derision on social media. In fact, I'd posit that they enjoy the abuse because a) they aren't very smart, and b) the disrespect and shit-kicking they willingly take from the Christofascist/billionaires that are calling the MAGA shots is worse than anything a "libtard" like me can subject them to via words on a screen.
