Explaining Extremely Obvious Things to People Who Refuse to Listen
January Wrapup
Welcome to life in 2025, where the lion’s share of what passes for political discourse consists of Explaining Extremely Obvious Things to People Who Refuse to Listen:
- The terrorist in the New Orleans attack was an American citizen & a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was not an illegal immigrant, and this attack had nothing to do with the “border crisis.” Trump lies about that kind of thing all the time, but his supporters simply do not care.
- As we have seen throughout the years, Trump simply decides what he wants to be true & declares it as fact, over & over again, until it dominates the conservative echo chamber. This “corroboration” is apparently sufficient to convince the GOP base (and possibly Trump himself) that Trump was right all along.
- Any honest post-mortem review of the 2024 election would be incomplete without substantial analysis of What Trump Voters Believe and Why They Believe It.
- There are no video clips of prominent Democrats performing Nazi salutes. Some defenders of Elon Musk have been circulating photographs of Barack Obama, Kamala Harris & Elizabeth Warren intended to suggest otherwise, but when viewed in context they are clearly not Nazi salutes.
- Joe Biden’s pre-emptive pardon of his entire family probably had far more to do with protecting them from the vengeance-driven President Trump than it did with any as-yet-unpublicized misdeeds by the Biden Crime Syndicate.
- Elon Musk is a right-wing anti-immigrant authoritarian who platforms white supremacists on Twitter and clearly loathes transgender people. Musk may have been “trolling” liberals with his Nazi salute, but that does not mean it was entirely ironic.
- Similarly, the only prople who decided to troll liberals with the “ironic” white-power OK hand gesture were people whose views were pretty much 90% of the way there.
- For the record, it is extremely uncommon for people on the autism spectrum to spontaneously “Sieg Heil” when they are excited.
- The three messages that resonate the most strongly with GOP voters are “Immigrants are swarming over the border,” “The trannies & queers are after your children,” and “Those liberals think they’re better than you.” These messages are propagated independently of empirical data.
- Trump did not send the military into California to “turn on the water.” The federal government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for 3 days.
- The Biden Administration did not send any condoms to the Gaza Strip, let alone $50 million dollars’ worth. The United States regularly sends condoms and other contraceptives to developing nations to stop the spread of AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases. This appears to include a city in Mozambique that shares the name “Gaza” and has nothing to do with Israel.
That’s all for January, but additional lists will be provided should the need arise.*
(*It definitely will.)

“Those liberals think they’re better than you.”
Isn’t it less of an opinion and more of a statement of fact these days? Is there really any question?
